Summary

Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general – also known and her tough-as-talons mother – has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders.

But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away…because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

With fewer dragons willing to bond than cadets, most would kill Violet to better their own chances of success. The rest would kill her just for being her mother’s daughter – like Xaden Riorson, the most powerful and ruthless wingleader in the Riders Quadrant.

She’ll need every edge her wits can give her just to see the next sunrise.

Yet, with every day that passes, the war outside grows more deadly, the kingdom’s protective wards are failing, and the death toll continues to rise. Even worse, Violet begins to suspect leadership is hiding a terrible secret.

Friends, enemies, lovers. Everyone at Basgiath War College has an agenda – because once you enter, there are only two ways out: graduate or die.

Books Intro/Summary
Fourth Wing

First Impression

I saw some people I know in my personal circle and online talking about how much they loved this book. When I saw it in the book section of a store, I decided to investigate.

The cover is really appealing and eye-catching. When you first open it you see a map of the continent and of Basgiath War Collage, this really spiked my curiosity and was something I enjoyed going back to while reading to help with the picture I had in my mind.

Overall Review

After reading, here are my overall thoughts. I loved this book it was written very well. I wasn’t constantly unsure of any wording or language like some fantasy books; the romance parts were very descriptive and kept me on my toes. The story didn’t feel drug out and didn’t jump too far ahead without summarizing the missed time. Overall this book was definitely worth all the hype it got.

Did this book, as a whole, keep me hooked?

Yes, this book would make me say, “Oh….. just one more chapter.” I would be reading any chance I got. Putting it down or not wondering what would happen next was not a thing where this book was concerned. It made me laugh and had a twist in the story around every corner.

Did the author do a good job of putting an image in my mind?

Yes, every detail of the characters or the landscape put a clear image in my mind. As the book went on, it kept adding to every aspect of that picture. For the most part, it was written from the point of view of the main character (Violet), but some chapters are written from the point of view of other important characters, and that really helped give everything more depth. The descriptions of where everything takes place were done very well, along with the maps in the front of the book to help further get the layout of this new world.

Dislikes

As I stated above, I loved this book and couldn’t put it down. Was completely addicted. I can’t come up with something I disliked, if I read it over and searched for something I might be able to find some detail so small that it wouldn’t really be worth mentioning.

Do I recommend this Book?

I 100% recommend this book. I think someone who likes to dive into a whole new world, likes to cheer for the underdog, and likes those unlikely lovers kind of stories would love is book. It’s definitely an adult book, I wouldn’t let your tween read it for the simple fact that the “romance” parts are very descriptive. If you love reading books that get you out of this world and let you jump into another one, I say read this book, you will start reading and look up hours later wondering where the time has gone. Star Rating

I would give this book 5/5 stars and will most likely read it again. Be on the lookout for a review of the next book in this series… Iron Flame!
